Preventive Dentistry

We all need to visit the dentist regularly. Attending a dental check-up on a regular basis will keep plaque and tartar build-up to a minimum. It will also avoid any nasty surprises and allows us to treat any potential problems quickly and efficiently, enabling you to keep in great dental shape.

At your six monthly check-up the dentist will do a check of your oral health and a full scale, clean and polish. We also refresh you on correct oral hygiene methods and update your dietary advice. If required X-rays and fluoride treatment will also be recommended.

A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. When a dentist gives you a filling, they first remove the decayed tooth material, clean the affected area, and then fill the cleaned cavity with a filling material.

At Radiance Dental we use composite resin for tooth-coloured fillings. For people for have silver (amalgam) fillings we can replace them with tooth-coloured fillings if they start to breakdown.

Childrens Dentistry

Oral hygiene is important in early years, to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Regular Dental check-ups help your dentist to help you prevent decay in your child’s teeth before it causes cavities and toothache.

Children should start to visit the dental practice as young as possible, so bring them along with you to your check-ups. They may be too young for an examination but the visits helps to familiarise them with the surroundings, the smells, noise and most important they meet the dentist.

The examinations will be informal to start, a quick look using a dental mirror. Counting the teeth and looking for signs of decay. As the child’s confidence grows your dentist will carry out a more thorough examination including checking for cavities and assess the alignment and bite of the teeth to determine if orthodontics might be needed later on.
