Root Canal Treatments
Root canal treatment aims to save a tooth that has been badly damaged due to decay, disease or injury. Without root canal treatment, a badly diseased tooth will have to be extracted to prevent ongoing infection and pain.
In a root canal treatment, the nerve (pulp) of the tooth is removed and the infected tissue within the tooth is cleaned out. A special antibacterial dressing is put into the root canals and the bulk of the tooth is replaced with a filling.
The entire procedure is performed under anaesthetic so there is very limited discomfort.
